Before having our first child, the husband and I bought a basic glider on Amazon for around $120.  An innocent purchase, since we had no experience with nursery planning.

Notice the glider & ottoman in the corner?

Had we known just how much it would be used in the wee hours of the night (especially those nighttime wakings of a cranky toddler!) we would have spent double or triple that amount.  That little chair needs waaaaay more padding on the seat!  Sore butts all around.  Hindsight’s 20/20.

Here is the $1300 glider from Restoration Hardware Baby and Child.  From looking at this photo, I kinda LOVE it.  Having said that, I don’t think anyone in their right mind would pay that ticket price for something that most likely will have milk dripped on it, and definitely get climbed on, slammed against the wall, and scratched by a small child.  I mean, realistically, that’s what is going to happen in any household, right?  Right?

I’d better keep shopping.  Any suggestions are welcome!
